Market-leading, full-service healthcare communications agency with expertise across advertising, public relations & medical communications are looking for a Director of Scientific Strategy to lead scientific content output and be a leader at senior level in the agency. Alongside the Client Services Director, the Director of Scientific Strategy plays a central role in all client and portfolio business development, including organic and new business opportunities. In addition, this role is part of the medical communications leadership team, with high profile at both the EU Integrated Communications teams as well as the wider clinical and commercial teams across the business.

The office is in London, but you can be based fully remote or utilise a hybrid working model.

  • Build strong enduring client relationships based on a thorough understanding of client strategy, their needs, and an in-depth knowledge of the current medical communications industry
  • Lead Scientific Content Projects for current clients and new business pitches
  • Act as a senior content advisor for both client and internal teams
  • Be accountable for the high-quality, technically accurate and authentic scientific strategy and content developed within portfolio
  • Ensure delivery excellence within agreed briefs, deadlines and budgets, making best use of all internal resources irrespective of the primary discipline of the originating agency (i.e. covering Medical Communications, Advertising, Public/Professional Relations, Digital Communications, and Clinical Trial Recruitment offers)
  • Oversee and develop a team of Scientific Directors and Medical Writers of all levels
  • Uphold compliance with relevant medical and industry ethical codes of practice and regulations ( e.g. EFPIA, ABPI, GPP3) for all scientific content projects
  • Effectively recruit, manage, mentor team and retain team members irrespective of location through regular 1:1s combined with active personal learning and development programmes
  • To provide scientific guidance and support to all EU regional offices and across the wider network to support both domestic and larger regional and global opportunities
  • Collaborate with Finance and HR on resourcing and workflow
  • Be an advocate and thought leader on scientific content generation
 Requirements & Qualifications
  • Extensive medical communications background with an in-depth knowledge and experience in a healthcare-focused environment
  • Ability to network, build relationships and input both commercially and scientifically at senior client levels
  • A keen awareness of current trends in medical communications and an abundance of great ideas and fresh perspective to bring to the agency
  • Experience in scientific content generation within an omnichannel environment
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills in order to pitch ideas to clients and explain ideas/briefs to other team members
  • Line management and proven leadership skills to engage, mentor, motivate the Scientific Services Team
  • Foster a productive working environment through proactive management of challenges or issues
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work and advise seamlessly across multiple projects and issues
  • A willingness to constructively challenge colleagues, other agencies and clients
  • Able to inspire, influence and share knowledge with others who are less experienced in scientific content generation
  • Knowledge of financial management for projects and the broader agency
