Magdalen Medical Publishing (MMP) is an agile and fast-growing digital publisher of independent, open-access medical news and education for the online healthcare professional (HCP) community. MMP is dedicated to providing busy HCPs with trustworthy, cutting-edge updates in their field in an accessible manner across a range of digital platforms. We produce a wide variety of digital media content for our world-leading online video journals, which cover a range of pathologies including neurology and dementia, hematology, oncology and regenerative medicine.

The Role
MMP is seeking an experienced Senior Medical Writer to join their expanding team to help maintain and grow MMP as an industry-leading digital publisher. This role will work and liaise directly with the Publisher, General Manager, Scientific Lead and Publishing Team across our portfolio of journals to develop written content for our online communities and viewers.

Tasks and responsibilities
  • Research, scope and execute high-quality, accurate, timely content with limited coaching and supervision required, across the full spectrum of digital medical education including video debates, online video articles and special features, IME and CME courses, podcast shows, congress interviewing, education via social media and virtual meetings
  • Review and approval of journal content to ensure scientific balance, accuracy, and relevance to our audience
    • Develop an understanding of the strategic communications process for each journal and identify optimal delivery of key educational themes
  • Develop a good level of understanding across the disease areas of our range of journals, keeping up to date with developments to ensure the most up to date content is developed
  • Participate in face-to-face meetings with partners to aid brief development of educational objectives for collaborative educational projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time and within brief, and that all members of the internal and external team are kept up to date
  • Maintain excellent written and oral communication skills with internal stakeholders, KOLs, partners and suppliers when required
  • Direct line management responsibility of junior team members, including the review and feedback of their work
  • Work within the publishing, partnerships and MMP team as a whole
  • Some international travel to attend conferences will be required
The Candidate
  • Previous extensive medical writing experience in digital publishing, medical journal publishing or medical communications (although other relevant experience would be considered)
  • Expertise in hematological oncology, oncology, neurology, immunology, inflammation or regenerative medicine is also preferable
  • Life sciences degree - BSc/MSc/PhD or equivalent qualifications considered
  • Have a working knowledge of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) and Good Publishing Practice guidelines (GPP3)
  • Previous experience in working with world-leading key opinion leaders
  • Previous experience in interviewing at congresses and or education through social media would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills with the ability organize and manage multiple projects at once
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, cutting-edge publishing environment
