About the Role:


Senior Account Managers are responsible for the wellbeing of entire client accounts, or large parts of major accounts. This includes being responsible for managing a large portfolio of projects, ensuring that they are delivered on schedule, within budget and to the required specifications.


Senior Account Managers ensure that a complete brief is taken for all projects, and that all details are communicated to relevant stakeholders (both internally and externally), driving the day-to-day management of projects to successful completion. Senior Account Managers also contribute to internal strategic planning meetings, maintain excellent financial management skills and take an active role in growing existing accounts, assisting with proposals and pitches as required.


Key Responsibilities:


Project Delivery

  • Manage resources for all projects in close collaboration with peers and senior staff across multiple departments as appropriate, including mentoring and motivating account team members, ensuring they each understand their role within the team
  • Capably direct and manage projects, working across multiple departments
  • Facilitate the delivery of high-quality projects on time and within budget, including ensuring that quality control is maintained
  • Conduct overall management of project completion, including scheduling regular team meetings and ensuring all projects are fully briefed, including time and quality expectations
  • Attend weekly account team meetings, planning and driving the agenda
  • Coordinate content development, editorial, creative and strategy within the context of the allocated projects and programmes
  • Accurately complete client contact reports with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate ability to execute projects independently, ensuring internal processes are adhered to
  • Take accountability for your own time and effective prioritisation of your tasks and responsibilities, ensuring that quality deliverables meet required standards
  • Enter time and submit expenses by the deadlines set, using appropriate job codes

Strategic mindset

  • Take an involvement in strategic-level discussions with the senior team and clients, with an understanding of how the strategy is delivered through medical communications tactics
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the global healthcare market, relevant therapy areas, and medical communication programmes, including publications, congresses, events and market access
  • Show a full understanding of the key messaging and strategy for your account, and instil confidence in the client in all communications

Business Development

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of agency and network services, to be discussed at top-line level with clients
  • Understand and internally discuss client strategy and/or objectives
  • Work with account teams and business development colleagues to identify new business opportunities

Collaboration and Building Relationships

  • Proactive management of client business through establishing and maintaining professional and productive client relationships
  • Partner with clients more independently, nurturing relationships for long-term mutual benefit as well as enhancing Synergy’s reputation
  • Take the lead on interdepartmental relationship issues, immediately identifying and solving problems or conflicts

Financial Acumen

  • Work closely with the commercial finance team to maintain an up-to-date and accurate overview of account financials
  • Correctly use financial tools to keep the team up to date on key financial trackers
  • Develop client budgets, scopes of work and estimates as needed (with minimal revision)
  • Take responsibility for ensuring adherence to SOWs and assigned budget, via liaison with colleagues.
  • Confidently lead conversations with clients if scope change occurs
  • Manage client account potential to meet and exceed the annual forecast, working closely with senior client service colleagues and the business development team as required
  • Demonstrate effective negotiation skills when working with suppliers

Developing Talent

  • Oversee the work of and provide clear direction to junior client service colleagues, delegating responsibilities and tasks where appropriate to provide experience, growth and knowledge transfer
  • Assist junior team members with interpreting external feedback and help them to apply learnings
  • Assist junior team members in identifying tasks and responsibilities that need to be prioritised, explaining the rationale
  • Identify and raise training and development needs within the account team, and put forward your own solutions

Taking the Initiative

  • Ask team members across all levels for feedback and proactively implement learnings
  • Take responsibility for developing your knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and compliance
  • Own responsibility for your personal development, regularly looking for other ways to learn and grow professionally by maximising exposure to new opportunities, making the most of training and requesting training as required
  • Undertake tasks outside of the specifics of the job description where business reasons require it

 

Skills and Experience:


Essential
• Educated to degree level in a relevant science subject or 3+ years’ previous account management experience in a similar role
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

 

Desirable
• Previous experience in a medical communications agency would be highly advantageous
• Ability to travel internationally
