Job Details:

Our client is seeking a Scientific Director to lead the delivery of medical communications projects form either their London or Kent offices.

You will have responsibility for driving account development from editorial, scientific and strategic perspectives. You will play a key role in maintaining and developing excellent client relationships, and ensure that all deliverables support the client’s communication objectives. You will nurture and support writers of all levels, helping them to reach their potential and expand their experience across the full range of medical communication activities. You will also contribute to resourcing the team and helping with new business growth.

  • Ensures all ongoing projects are strategically aligned and scientifically accurate
  • Leads liaison with clients and medical experts on scientific content and strategic implications related to content communication
  • Responsible for maintaining relationships with key clients and medical experts to ensure long-term account health and development
  • Undertakes the writing, editorial or strategic development of projects and ensures that deliverables reflect client requirements and are optimally presented
  • Defines clear goals, objectives and processes for the team
  • Reviews work of junior team members and provides feedback to ensure their progress
  • Proactively provides recommendations for process improvement and ensures that all members of the team follow processes
  • Delegates the editorial workload and budgets from an editorial perspective to ensure the completion of the editorial aspects of projects on time and to the client’s brief
  • Through comprehensive knowledge, ensures awareness and understanding of relevant compliance guidelines, both general and client-specific, and takes responsibility for ensuring projects are delivered accordingly
  • Proactively identifies opportunities within existing accounts, and plays a key role in the organic growth of accounts

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Life Science degree, preferable MSc or PhD
  • Proven ability to lead the development of a wide variety of medical communications projects, to time and budget, within a healthcare agency environment
  • The ability to drive excellence within the team and share best practice to ensure superlative customer service across the company
  • The ability to coordinate wider team resources and ensure that schedules are realistic and achievable, monitoring progress against these and identifying and implementing solutions to issues
  • Line manages and mentors, able to provide honest and timely feedback
  • Good planning and organisation skills - able to prioritise across the team
