Job Details:
We are looking for a Scientific Director/Principal Writer to join a fast-paced account to manage projects across the medical communications spectrum, including medical affairs, medical strategy and scientific publications involving a portfolio of products in various indications.
In this broad-ranging role, the successful candidate will contribute at a strategic, senior scientific level within a well-established, dynamic team, with the potential to develop the team of writers to support projected account growth.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of medical affairs/publication projects, providing strategic input and scientific oversight throughout the course of each project
- Lead all client interactions relating to scientific deliverables
- Take full accountability for accuracy and scientific integrity of all assigned projects
- Direct and review writers’ projects, as well as taking responsibility for your own (including writing)
- Work closely with accountmanagement colleagues to generate budgets and timelines, ensuring timelydelivery of all projects
- Work closely with other functions around the business (eg, creative, editorial) in the delivery of specific projects as appropriate
- Line management and/or mentoring of UK-based junior writers
- Some travel (US/Europe/UK) maybe required
- Key requirements
- Excellent medical writing and critical reviewing abilities with high-level strategic understanding
- At least 6 years’ experience spent at medical communications agencies
- Experience of both publications and non-publications projects
- At least 1 year of experience providing scientific leadership for an account (or accounts)
- Broad therapy area experience and the ability to get up-to-speed in a new therapy area with ease
- Excellent knowledge of good publication practice, with CMPP certification preferable (although not required)
- Full understanding and implementation of compliance best practice for medical affairs deliverables
- Formal line management experience preferable; experience with mentoring/training/coaching junior members of staff required
