Prescript, a highly successful but still personable healthcare communications agency, wishes to recruit an experienced Principal Medical Writer to join our growing team. Our collective ambition is to be market leader in ingeniously created, highly reputable communications, and to be valued partners for our clients.

Working on a range of European and global accounts, using a range of media and platforms, you would work with us at our offices in Letchworth Garden City. While full-time working is preferred, we will consider part-time applications and applications from freelancers.

The role will draw on your extensive experience in medical communications and scientific expertise to develop and deliver communications and educational materials of the highest quality to our clients. Reporting to our Scientific Director, you will have the opportunity to help us shape and develop the editorial team through line management and mentoring responsibilities. You will be a key player in developing and building relationships with clients and be a valued partner in those client-facing activities.

·  Use wealth of experience and strategic insight to provide expert practical input, including writing, into specific projects spanning a variety of disease and communication areas across platforms
·  Lead on assigned projects from an editorial perspective, applying strategic and business insight to gain a competitive edge
·  Quality control of copy created by other editorial staff
·  To take accurate briefs from clients, asking questions where needed, and providing clear briefs to colleagues and third parties to support a collaborative cross-working approach
·  Support the Client Services Team in proposal development and draft, idea creation, and review of proposals for editorial and factual accuracy
·  Line manage/mentor more junior writers – encouraging them to take ownership of their work and aiding them in their own self-development
·  Research and formulation of ideas to support pitch and new business activities
·  Be proactive in identifying opportunities for training and career development for self and others, and in new initiatives relating to healthcare communications
·  Provide on-site support for client activities and attendance of client meetings other company-run meetings
·  Take an active interest in competitor intelligence – feeding back as appropriate
·  Help to define the working processes and practices of the department and across departments

Capabilities and aptitude
·  Educated to degree level, and ideally higher, in a biomedical science
·  Significant experience of writing (5+ years), ideally including from an agency setting
·  Excellent IT skills, including word processing packages. Working knowledge of Zinc and/or Veeva preferred
·  Broad experience in accessing information sources – a “go-to” for more junior staff
·  Robust understanding of applicable codes of practice
·  Commercial and strategic acumen, and a driver of the business
·  A creative and ingenious thinker
·  Excellent interpersonal skills, both with colleagues and externals
·  Mentoring skills – personable and approachable, and a role model
·  Effective time management, even under pressure
·  Exceptional eye for detail
·  Reliable
